1. Who we are

Something Blue Hair & Makeup (“SBHM”, “we”, “us”) operates an online directory and booking platform for bridal hair and makeup artists at sbhm.co.uk.

The data controller is Natasha Davies, trading as Something Blue Hair & Makeup. You can reach us at [email protected]. For data protection enquiries, please use the subject line “Data Request”.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following personal data depending on how you use the platform:

  • Brides: name, email address, phone number, wedding date and venue, and any notes about your hair or makeup preferences.
  • Artists: full name, display name, town/city, home postcode (used for location matching), biographical information, portfolio photographs, service catalogue and pricing, and Stripe payment account information.
  • All users: email address and encrypted password for account access.

3. Why we collect it and the legal basis

  • To facilitate bookings between brides and artists and process payments — contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR).
  • To send transactional emails such as booking confirmations, payment receipts, and reminders — contract performance.
  • To match “Find My Artist” enquiries to artists by location and specialism — legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
  • To detect and prevent contact-detail sharing outside the platform before a deposit is paid — legitimate interest.

4. How long we keep your data

  • Booking records (including personal details of the bride and artist involved) are kept for 7 years from the event date, in line with HMRC record-keeping requirements.
  • Account data (name, email address) is kept for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time — see Section 7.
  • Artist applications that are not approved are deleted after 12 months.

5. Who we share data with

We only share your data with the following third-party processors, each acting under a data processing agreement:

  • Stripe— payment processing. Stripe handles payment card data directly under their own privacy policy. We never store card numbers.
  • Brevo(formerly Sendinblue) — transactional email delivery. Receives recipient email address and message content in order to deliver emails.
  • Google— optional Google Calendar integration for artists who choose to connect their account. We request only calendar write access and never read existing calendar events.
  • Cloudflare— object storage for uploaded files (artist portfolio photos and profile images).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in while you use the platform. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies. No cookie consent banner is displayed because no non-essential cookies are set.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request erasure (subject to legal retention requirements — see Section 4)
  • Data portability
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] with the subject line “Data Request”. We will respond within 30 days.
